The Cal State Northridge 1967 Junior Rose Bowl Football team and former head coach Dr. Sam Winningham brought the crowd to their feet on Sunday during their induction to the Matador Hall of Fame. The team was the main attraction at the then, San Fernando State, as they took on the best teams in the California Collegiate Athletic Association and finished second in the league. Energy was high at Matador Pool Thursday afternoon, but it wasn’t enough to turn that into a victory for the Cal State Northridge men’s and women’s swim team in the meet against Cal State Bakersfield. With only two first place finishes, held by Kuan Fong Lao in the 50 freestyle and Jordan Harris in 100 freestyle, the men’s team fell short in catching the Roadrunners, as they lost the meet 150-66.
