Cross country teams finish 14th in Riverside

The men and women’s cross country teams both finished in 14th place at the UC Riverside Cross Country Invitational on Sept. 29 at the UCR Farm Course.

The men’s team finished with 328 points, with a total time of 2:15:21.00 and an average time of 27:04.20 for the 8k course. The host Highlanders won the team competition with a total time of 2:03:20.80 and an average time of 24:40.16.

Senior Manual Ruiz was CSUN’s top male finisher, placing 21st with a time of 25:34.80. The winner of the men’s race was Mark Currell of Southern Utah. His winning time was 24:07.20.

The women’s team finished with 394 points, with a total time of 1:37:33.50 and an average time of 19:30.70 for the 5k course. UC Riverside also won the women’s team competition with a total time of 1:27:44.60 and an average time of 17:32.92.

CSUN’s top finisher for the women was Lilyanna Moregan, who placed 85th with a time of 19:18.80. The winner of the women’s race was UC Riverside’s Brenda Martinez, who broke the course record with a time of 16:52.10.

Both CSUN cross country teams traveled to Arizona on Friday to compete in the Arizona State Invitational.
