CSUN women are sixth at Titan meet

Julie Bradin was the top finisher for the CSUN women’s cross country team in the 2007 Titan Cross Country Invitational last Friday with a 19:47 time for the 5k course. Bradin’s time gave her a 31st place finish.

Julie Swail from Cal Coast TC won the meet with her time of 17:34. Orange Coast College won the team title with a total time of 1:36:33.00 and an average time of 19:18.60.

Other CSUN finishers included Lilyanna Morejon at 35th with a time of 19:55, Sharon Wilkinson with a time of 20:10 for 43rd place, Nanci Velarde in 50th at 20:32, Sandra Velarde in 62nd at 21:10 and Leslie Ching at 79th with a time of 22:47.

As a team, CSUN finished in sixth place with a total time of 1:41:34.00 and an average time of 20:18.80.

For the men, Diego Fernandez was CSUN’s top finisher, coming in at 18th with a time of 27:11 for the 8k course.

Chris Ashley, running unattached, won the meet with a time of 24:19. UCLA took first in the team competition with a total time of 2:08:29.00 and an average time of 25:41.80.

Other Matadors finishes included Michael Stotland in 37th place with a time of 28:28, followed by Juan Olea in 38th with a time of 28:30. CSUN did not have enough men competing to place in the team standings.

The men and women will travel to San Luis Obispo to participate in the Big West Championships this Saturday at 10 a.m.
