Dear Editor:
Great article on Governor Schwarzenegger and his establishment of a new California cabinet position.? Volunteerism is very important and certainly we should all do our part.? Unfortunately in cash-strapped California, where we are running a huge deficit with the threat of many cuts to services (and probably increases in student fees), do we really need another bureaucratic official commanding a salary of $75,000.00 per year?? Actually, we are getting a bargain.? Ms. Baker has agreed to maintain her present salary under her old position of $130,332 a year.?
