The alternative rock group “American Hi- Fi” performed at the Troubadour in West Hollywood on Friday night to a full room of excited fans. The rock band is composed of Stacy Jones, the lead singer, Jamie Arentzen on guitar, Drew Parsons on the bass and Brian Nolan on drums. Before they began, the bands “Verona Grove”, “Cruiserweight” and “Lido Beach” opened and prepped the crowd with their catchy lyrics and smooth melodies.

As American Hi-Fi entered the stage, their excited fans greeted them with loud cheers and star-struck screams. They began their show with “Surround,” the first track off their first album “Flavor of the Weak.” After their short lived break, American Hi-Fi still has some flavor left in them.

The Troubadour may not be a large venue, but its enticing bar and energetic ambience made it easy for American Hi-Fi to make its way into their next song “Scar” a Foo Fighter’s type of song, with strong guitar strums and meaningful lyrics.

Through the show, much of the crowd stood straight up while bobbing their heads to the lyrics and tapping their heels against the floor in rhythm with the melody.

Their show then went to another level when they performed their new single “Keep It Like A Secret” from their upcoming album. The crowd responded by cheering and swinging their heads back and forth.

With their performance reaching its peak, they played their second most recognized song “Another Perfect Day” with the lead singer from “Cruiserweight.” The crowd enjoyed the duo and demonstrated it by singing along in joyous harmony.

They then played their new demo “Frat Chump,” and their 2001 one-hit wonder “Flavor of the Weak.” The crowds cheered them on by flashing vigorous rock hand signs, steady head banging and rhythmic movement.

From their second album “The Art of Losing,” they continued on playing “Happy.” Their most enthusiastic fans lined around the front stage and stretched their hands out to Jones, rocking along with the band, allowing their hearts to beat with the drumming of Nolan.

For the conclusion of their show American Hi-Fi ended their performance with “Fight the Frequency,” where Parsons kept the rhythm going smoothly and harmoniously while playing his bass. American Hi-Fi finally ended their electrifying show with the “Wall of Sound.”

American Hi-Fi may be identified as a one-hit-wonder, but with the catchy lyrics and strong melodies of their new material, they may have a lucky chance at making it onto the billboards this year. Either way, they performed a satisfying show that pleased the nostalgic crowds and left them excited and curious for more.
