As the world stays home to quarantine and flatten the curve of COVID-19, there has never been a better time to watch movies and television series on streaming platforms. Studios have decided to release some of their upcoming blockbusters for audiences to watch at home.

For those in their living rooms and bedrooms practicing social distancing, here are the newest, readily-available releases of television and film:

“Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness”

“Tiger King” is a true-crime docuseries about the life of Joseph Maldonado-Passage — popularly known as Joe Exotic. Exotic is a flamboyant, gun-toting country music-singing owner of Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park, G.W. Zoo. The mini-series focuses on the hatred between Exotic and Carole Baskin, owner of Big Cat Rescue, and the attempted murder of Baskin. The series has the perfect formula for a true crime favorite.

“Ozark” Season Three

The series stars Jason Bateman as Marty Byrde and Laura Linney as Wendy, forced to relocate their family to the Ozarks to launder money for a Mexican drug cartel. The series originally came out on July 27, 2017, and holds an 80% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. “Ozark” can be described as “Breaking Bad” meets Missouri. The show is full of memorable characters and jam-packed with tension.

“Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert”

In celebration of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival’s 20th anniversary, and with the news that Coachella is being pushed back until Oct. 9, comes a full-length documentary about the popular event. YouTube partnered with Coachella in order to make this project and is premiering it, and will be streaming performances when Coachella 2020 finally happens. The documentary features performances from the past that shaped the event, as well as behind the scenes stories. “Coachella: 20 Years in the Desert” is produced and directed by Chris Perkel and was released on March 31.

“Onward”

Disney’s Pixar’s latest release is about two teenage elf brothers, Ian and Barley Lightfoot, that go on a journey to find some magic in order to spend one last day with their father, who died when they were young. Pixar knows how to tug on people’s heartstrings and this movie is no different. Movies about loss are what Pixar loves to tell.

Disney has released “Onward” early on VOD because of movie theater closures due to COVID-19.

“Onward” is available on VOD for $19.99, and will be available on Disney + on April 3.

“Tom Segura: Ball Hog”

If you need something to make you laugh during this trying time, watch “Tom Segura: Ball Hog.” This is Tom Segura’s third Netflix stand-up comedy special and is one of his best. Stand-up comedy, like movies, are subjective but Segura’s comedy is very relatable to just about anyone. He talks about relationships, his mom and dad, following your dreams, as well as a slew of topics that people might not think about. If “Ball Hog” is up your alley and you want more, check out Segura’s best friend’s stand up special that came out a week before him, “Bret Kreischer: Hey Big Boy.”

“Westworld” Season Three

The first two seasons of this show happened within Westworld, a Wild-West-themed amusement park, populated by robots or ‘hosts,’ where humans could go and live out a fantasy. After the events of the previous seasons, this latest season deals with the outside world and answers the question if the hosts can live within society or not. Season three debuted on March 15 with new episodes being released on every Sunday night.
