CSUN police responded to reports of a shooting late Friday night and performed first-aid to two victims upon their arrival.

A fight broke out between two pairs of men at a strip mall in the 17600 block of Lassen Street around 10:45 p.m., a Los Angeles Police Department spokesman said.

One of the men pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots and injured both victims. The assailant and the other man he was with fled the scene in a vehicle.

LAPD units arrived shortly after and took over the investigation. The victims, neither of which sustained life-threatening injuries, were taken to nearby hospitals.

The cause of the conflict is unknown and the LAPD stated that the incident is still under investigation.
