Dino Rizzo Offers Students Tips for Serving Their Communities

Dino Rizzo believes that serving is a central part of life and that everyone should do so regularly. The executive director of ARC (Association of Related Churches) and the co-founder of Healing Place Church founded Servolution and authored a book called “Serve Your City” because of how passionate he is about inspiring believers to serve their local communities.
Serving people is all about kindness and doing something for someone else who could use your help. One of the main tenets of Servolution is that someone’s life can be changed for ever by on one simple act of kindness.
You can have a major impact by serving in your community, regardless of who you are, where you are, or what you do. Dino Rizzo provides some tips below for students on how they can serve their communities.
What is Servolution?
Dino Rizzo founded Servolution more than ten years ago. The movement included him and his team saying “yes” to every opportunity to serve others. It’s now become a community of people from around the world who are focused on serving others and reaching people with the love and message of Jesus.
Serving benefits both the people who receive the kindness as well as those who are delivering it. Personal healing can be found through helping others, as Dino Rizzo says.
To that end, it’s not something that people should want to do; it’s something that everyone needs to do. After all, the world can become a better place if more people would serve others.
How Students Can Serve Their Communities
You don’t have to be a well-established adult to serve your local community. You don’t need to have a lot of money, many connections or even a lot of time to make a difference in someone else’s life. All you need to have is a desire to serve.
Servolution hosts a website where ideas are posted on how people can help others by serving their local community. It includes specific events, such as a school supplies drive, a backpack drive, and an aquarium field trip — all of which students can participate in to give back.
Besides these established events, though, students can make a difference in their local communities in a number of creative ways.
Some ideas include helping teachers organize their classrooms, helping a single mom or widow clean her house, refilling bird feeders for the VA or nursing homes, cleaning up under interstate bridges, playing card games with senior citizens, collecting diapers and formula for a pregnancy center, and raking and bagging leaves for others in the community or at a local park.
As you can see, none of these ways that students can serve take much more than a desire to help and give back and the effort to do the work. Students can partner with local organizations to help them accomplish this or even get ideas for specific ways they can help.
Dino Rizzo suggests that all students should try to serve their local communities in some way, as even small acts of kindness can make a huge difference.
