CSUN men’s soccer star Jamar Ricketts has been announced by the San Jose Earthquakes as their first round pick of the 2023 MLS SuperDraft. He is the 13th overall draft pick in the first round of the draft.
Ricketts is the 11th Matador drafted overall and the 3rd drafted in the first round. He joins Daniel Trejo, who was drafted in 2021 at the 14th slot, and Sean Franklin, who was drafted in 2008 at 4th overall.
He accomplished a lot in his three years here at Northridge, earning two first team all-Big West selections. Ricketts’ career numbers at CSUN include 16 goals and 10 assists.
Earlier in the school year, Ricketts sat down with The Daily Sundial in a podcast with the sports editors. Listen to what he had to say about how he got recruited to CSUN and what his expectations were coming into the season.
