As the year comes to a close, TRENDS is preparing for its annual fashion show in spring 2026. After selecting the designers, organizers say it now takes a village to bring everything together.
TRENDS, a nonprofit, student-run organization founded in 1978 at CSUN by undergraduate students and faculty, has brought together students, faculty and the surrounding community to educate and inspire interest in the fashion industry for more than four decades .
Leena Wang, co-president of TRENDS, joined the organization in 2024. She started as a social media public relations for more than a year and now serves as co-president alongside Harley Tosujimoto.
“Fashion is one of the most diverse arts. There are a lot of different aesthetics and vibes that students go for. Fashion gives the opportunity to be expressive,” Wang said.
TRENDS offers students a range of opportunities designed to support their professional and personal growth in the fashion industry.
Each year, the organization hosts two signature events: the Annual Career Symposium in the fall and the Annual Fashion Show in the spring.

The Annual Career Symposium allows students to get priceless information by meeting and connecting with industry professionals. The Annual Fashion Show showcases the collections of the senior design students, as well as the emerging designers.
Wang highlighted what to expect at the fashion show.
“Be prepared for a lot of different designs. We have about 16 designers, and that is 16 students making up four or five different garments,” Wang said. “Be prepared for anything – it’s very fun.”
Conner Davidson, vice president of TRENDS, who began as a fashion merchandising major, spoke about how the designers chose to showcase their work in the fashion show.
“Each designer has a say over what their collection is. So, when it comes down to theme, it’s usually something pretty broad because we like to have it encompass all of the different aspects of design,” Davidson said.
Wang encourages the community to attend the fashion show and see the designers work up close.
“Even if you’re not interested in fashion, it’s still very interesting to see all the different designs,” Wang said. “Because they made it by hand, they are making it from scratch, so I think that within itself is amazing art.”
Recently, Wang and Davidson were guests on the “On The Horizon Podcast.”
