Meet the Firms will bring together students, about 50 public and private accounting and IS firms, Thursday at the Odyssey Restaurant in Granada Hills at 9 p.m.
Meet the Firms is the accounting and information systems department premiere recruiting event, held twice a year during the fall and spring semesters, according to the event website. Providing the 12,000 students enrolled in the department to gain insight and network with real professionals in the accounting and IS fields.
Students are encouraged to come early, put on a black or blue suit, bring a resume and speak to people in the working world, said Luella Jones, director of Ernst & Young center for careers in accounting and information systems.
The event is critically important if an accounting or information systems student wants to pursue a future career in those fields, Jones said. Networking and building relationships are vital, and this event is the place to be, she said.
Meet the Firms was assembled by the CSUN accounting association, management information systems association and Beta Alpha Psi accounting fraternity, employing both networking and building relationships, as well as working together to get the event running.
