The sophisticated late-night dining option

If eating at the same old places like McDonald’s and Chipotle is wearing thin, then students can expand their culinary horizons with food from Aroma Bakery and Caf’eacute;.’

Aroma is a European-style restaurant serving an array of fresh, healthy food in a comforting atmosphere.

Aroma opened its first location in Encino, Calif., in January 2005.’ It was so successful, the owners decided to open a second establishment, built just a few months ago in the heart of Hollywood on the Sunset strip.’ Aroma has set-up a convenient delivery service which allows to-go orders, and is working on an online feature so patrons can place orders for their favorite dishes from their home or office.

The bakery and caf’eacute; is set up as a Mediterranean-style restaurant with Israeli ownership.’ Its style is apparent with such menu items as hummus, phyllo and feta.

One of the best things about Aroma is the size and diversity of its menu.’ If you or your significant other is a vegetarian, you should have no trouble finding meals to order. For breakfast, herbavores could order the Light and Crunchy for $8.95. This dish is made of reduced fat yogurt, granola and fresh berries.’ There are also a number of different vegetarian sandwiches, pastas and pizzas ranging from $10-12.

The quality of food seems to be the biggest priority for Aroma as they serve freshly baked bread and prepare its own homemade jams.’ For those of you that are living on a college budget, the prices at Aroma aren’t terrible because most items range from about $12 -15.’ There are also smaller plates that are less money if you don’t feel like eating a whole meal.

The dining atmosphere at Aroma might feel similar to Starbucks.’ The crowd is generally young and you’ll see a lot of people working on their laptops while drinking coffee.’ At night the atmosphere changes as it becomes more crowded and noisy.’ The outside patio is a great place to sit because Aroma has heat lamps and a huge fire pit.’ Many prefer sitting at the outdoor patio.

‘Every time I come here I always request a patio seat so I can enjoy my chocolate souffl’eacute; and coffee while watching the crazy events on Sunset Boulevard,’ said Cary Sanders, a 23-year-old Aroma customer.

So the setting at Aroma is extremely relaxing and it’s a great place to get some work done, but you’re probably wondering, ‘What about the food itself?” Well, as mentioned before, the menu is extremely diverse and offers more than 100 selections of main courses and dessert.

Beginning with breakfast, Aroma offers a variety of different omelettes made with all sorts of fresh vegetables. The omelettes come with sides such as cottage cheese, house salad and fruit salad.’ For those looking for something unique, the Jachnun for $11.95 is a perfect option. This breakfast entr’eacute;e is only available on the weekends and is made of thinly-layered dough baked overnight and served with hard-boiled eggs and vegetables.

Going to Aroma for lunch and dinner offers even more meals to choose from.’ Some of the entr’eacute;es might look a little familiar, like the balsamic caesar salad for $8.95, which comes with romaine lettuce, parmesan cheese and croutons, but other menu items give you an idea of what a true Mediterranean meal is. The Labane and Zaatar dish is a filling item of zaatar pita bread, labane spread and olive oil.’ Some of the food might seem a bit unfamiliar, but when given a chance, most people find it to be very tasty.

Overall, Aroma is able to distinguish itself from other restaurants through its vast variety of food and its innovative space.’ It stays open until 1 a.m., which makes it an ideal alternative to late night diners and commercial fast food chains. Plus, the quality of Aroma’s menu makes it an easy decision when thinking of a place to enjoy some good food.
