Staying productive on campus

Whether it is studying in the library, snagging an on campus job, or getting a bite to eat at the pub there are ways to stay busy and productive.

EAT

There is nothing worse than hearing your stomach growl during class. For times like these, grab a snack or have a meal at school in between classes.’ With a variety of eateries on campus something is bound to catch your eye.’

‘ Trevor Scott, a business major, often goes to Arbor Grill to pick up something to eat in between classes. He said if he needs to pick up something fast, he can be in and out in less than a couple minutes. Arbor Grill serves pizza, hamburgers, salads and a variety of packaged snack items.

The Pub Sports Grill is equipped with audio visual technology suitable for a fun day among friends. While they do serve alcohol here for students who are of age, they also provide a variety of culinary options for those under 21.

STUDY

There is no better place than Oviatt Library when midterms and finals come around. If you are simply in need of a little catching up, the library can help get the job done.’ With four levels of all the study tools you’ll need, this makes it ultimate spot on campus to catch up and cram. There are computer labs, study rooms for groups and cubicles if you just want to study by yourself.

If you don’t feel like studying in the library, there multiple coffee shops known as Freudian Sip where you can grab a cup of coffee or a latte to get your caffeine fix, and study.’

Crystal Slicker, a 23-year-old business administration major takes her lap top with her and does school work in between classes at Freudian Sip. If you need some fresh air, enjoy the beautiful campus greenery and find a shaded area to sit under a tree and study. Various buildings have computer labs that are available to students during non class hours. Take advantage of these rooms to browse the web, check your e-mail or get a headstart on your homework.’

PLAY

Keep yourself entertained on campus in between classes. Visit the University Student Union to get a schedule of on campus events or look on the CSUN website.

With a fitness center right on campus, students can get their daily exercise in. Yearly or semester passes are available at a low cost.’ ‘

Dale Pinlac, a 23-year-old sociology major, likes to hang out with his friends and socialize in the quad between classes.

For magazines and books, the Matador Bookstore has a plethora of items to grab anyone’s attention.

WORK

For those trying to make a little money while taking on a full class schedule, snag an on campus job. Campus jobs are usually really flexible with hours and accommodating to your class schedule.

Sean Taitt, a 21-year-old child development major, works at the Child and Family Study Center three days a week.’ Taitt’s job keeps him busy and gives him experience for his future career.

Students spend most of their time on campus in the classroom. No matter how much down time you have, there are many places and opportunities to take advantage of on campus. The next time you are looking for something to do, grab some friends and explore campus.
