Seawolves crush CSUN

The Cal State Northridge women’s basketball team’s offense came out very similar to the weather in Alaska Tuesday night.

Cold. Very cold.

In the first game of the Great Alaska Shootout, the Matadors (0-5) were dismantled by Alaska-Anchorage 72-44 at Sullivan Arena.

Seawolf senior Nicci Miller led all scorers with 19 points, 15 of which came in the first half. Matador freshman Neeta Sreekanth led CSUN with 10 points, including two three-pointers.

Northridge trailed the entire game and had only 13 points in the first half, making just four shots. They picked up the scoring in the second, but it was far too late by that time.

With the victory, Alaska-Anchorage (6-1) advances to the finals of the four-team tournament and get an opportunity to win its third straight Shootout championship tonight against the winner of the Jackson State-Syracuse game, which was played late Tuesday.

Northridge battles in the consolation game against the loser today.
