Asian House to be renamed in honor of professor, mentor

The Asian House that holds the Asian American Studies (AAS) Activities Center and the Women’s Research and Resource Center (WRRC), will be renamed to the Glenn Omatsu House on April 29 in honor of professor Glenn Omatsu.

Omatsu, an Education Opportunity Program (EOP) faculty mentoring program coordinator, teaches classes in service-learning, developmental reading and writing and Asian American Studies at CSUN. He is being recognized for his work with the community and assisting students with the EOP program during the reception and dedication event. The event will take place at the Glenn Omatsu House at 18356 Halstead Avenue at 2:30 p.m.

AAS received the Asian House from the university in 1992 and began working out of it shortly after the 1994 earthquake for fourteen years. In 2008 the WRRC moved into the house after their house had burned down and stayed due to the shortage of space on campus.

The AAS Activities Center is a campus and community center which served as a place to organize for AAS clubs, organizations, student groups, faculty and staff.
