With the CSUN Basketball season on the brink, the annual Basketball issue drops this Wednesday, Nov. 12, in a special print addition.
Both teams are coming off tremendous 2013-14 seasons, so both have even more expectations for the 2014-15 seasons as they premiere the new Blacktop floor at the Matadome.
Women’s Basketball
The women’s team coming off a season where they won the Big West Conference title and sealed a NCAA Tournament berth. They were selected as favorites to win the conference in the Big West Conference Preseason Poll. With returning coach of the year,Jason Flowers and a full senior starting five, the matured Matadors open their season Nov. 14 against Idaho. Big West Player of the Year Ashlee Guay returns hoping to add to an already historic Matador career.
Men’s Basketball
Meanwhile, the men’s team look to improve on a 17-18 season where they were only a few seconds away from defeating the Cal Poly Mustangs in the Big West Conference Championship game. The Matadors return senior starters Stephan Hicks and Stephen Maxwell who’s leadership roles should grow after the team lost senior Josh Greene. Lead by former NBA player and coach Reggie Theus, the team adds an influx of youth with eight new freshmen on the roster.
