BSU raises awareness for Jena 6

CSUN's Black Student Union (BSU) held an awareness forum Thursday to help spread the word to fellow students in support and awareness of the six black students in Jena, La., known as the "Jena Six," who have been indicted with what many consider unfair racially motivated charges.

There are students who spend more time driving to campus than they do in classrooms, as they're parked in traffic counting the minutes of classroom discussion that they're missing. "Imagine 40,000 students driving down Reseda trying to get to class, and then trying to park in the parking structure," said CSUN Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Harry Hellenbrand.

Leisure and play center encourages children’s play

Imagine standing atop a 30-foot-high wooden pole that sways with every change in the wind, then leaping to catch a ring that's 12 feet above, trusting that those below won't let them fall. This type of experience is all in a day's work for the CSUN Center for the Study of Leisure and Play through the Department of Recreation and Tourism Management.

Health center offering quality eye care for students

The Klotz Student Health Center has teamed up with the one of nation's top schools of optometry, UC Berkeley, to provide students optimum vision care at affordable prices. The University of California, Berkeley/California State University Northridge Optometry Clinic was established as a result of an overwhelming demand for vision care through a survey that the health center distributes yearly.

Parking pass problems

You can buy a lot with $144. You can see about 15 movies, buy 288 tacos from Jack in the Box, or you can buy a season pass to Disneyland. ?You can buy any of those things or you can buy a sticker. You might ask what type of sticker costs $144, and who would buy such a sticker? The majority of the students who attend CSUN pay $144 for a sticker.
