The Congressional Budget Office reported last week the Iraq War will cost the U.S. $12 billion a month this year. An estimate of $845 billion will be spent on the war by the end of the year. That is $175 billion dollars more than the total cost of the 12-year Vietnam War.

When most people think of Cupid, they imagine a nude toddler flying around with a bow and arrow aiming his arrows of love at mortal souls. However, for hot dog lovers, Cupid's means only one thing, a really good, cheap hot dog. One of the original locations of the infamous hot dog stands is across the street from CSUN at Lindley Avenue and Nordhoff Street.

Yesterday morning I got to participate in one of my favorite things to do, but sadly it may one day be non-exsistent. When I turned 18, the first thing I did was not buy cigarettes or a lottery ticket. Rather, I registered to vote. I take pride in my right to vote and get excited before elections.

From the parking structures, bookstore, admissions and records, financial aid and the food court most student services are impacted the first few weeks of the semester. Spring A.S. senate lacks senators, 11 vacancies

CSSA votes to oppose pay raises for CSU executives

Originally Published September 18, 2007 California State University student leaders debated on increasing executive compensation, student tuition and other student issues at the California State Student Association (CSSA) conference on Saturday and Sunday hosted by San Diego State University. The CSSA Board of Directors voted to oppose a recommendation made by CSU Board of Trustees to increase executive compensation by 11.

A.S. senator survives motorcycle accident

The morning of Nov. 6 began as any other day for Associated Students Sen. Raffi Vartanian. He climbed on his Honda CBR 600 motorcycle just before 9:00 a.m. to arrive to class at 9:30 a.m. But the morning in question would prove to be quite different as he left his Thousand Oaks home and entered the 118 East Freeway.

A.S. president, students named CSU trustee finalists

Associated Students President Adam Haverstock, along with three other students, were named as finalists in the search for a California State University student trustee at the California State Student Association meeting at CSUN on Saturday. Eight students from across the state applied for the position to represent CSU students at the statewide level.

A.S. Senate election results questioned

There were already complaints about the procedures employed during the Associated Students senatorial elections when the unofficial results were posted on Thursday morning. Unofficial results were bittersweet for the two slates running, Movement to Organize for Rights and Education for Students, also known as MORE for Students) and Students Rights.

Textbook transparency bill signed by governor

Students will be able to experience relief in terms of paying for pricey textbooks in 2010, as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed California Assembly Bill 1548 into law. Schwarzenegger vetoed a similar bill on Oct. 13. AB 1548, also known as known as the College Textbook Transparency Act, will require publishers to print on or inside of textbooks changes made to them from previous editions.

A.S. hosts press conference for senatorial candidates

Fall 2007 Associated Students Senate candidates pledged to serve students rights and to increase student awareness at the A.S. elections press conference Wednesday evening. Twelve of the 15 candidates were present to introduce themselves at the conference.

Students demonstrate against ROTC presence on campus

About 40 students demonstrated against the Army College Tour on Wednesday, resulting in a meeting with CSUN President Jolene Koester and a review of procedures by Associate Vice President of Student Affairs William Watkins. Most of the students were MEChA members, who were upset about the Army 's presence on campus and the carnival-like activities they had on campus, including a rock-climbing wall, game simulators and physical competitions.
