New CSUN science building gets go-ahead

The CSU Board of Trustees approved the construction of a new 90,000 square foot building for the College of Science and Mathematics, CSUN officials said. The construction of the building is scheduled to begin in January 2007 and will be added to expand the College of Science and Mathematics educational objectives, said Bill Fairchild, capital programs manager and project manager of the new building.

Football field converted for track

The field formally used by the CSUN football team, left desolate since the university abandoned the program in 2001, is being reconfigured for use by the Track and Field team for hammer throw and discus, said Colin Donahue, director of Facilities Planning.

African-Americans make up about 20 percent of faculty

Only about 20 percent of CSUN's full-time faculty is African-American, according to a Fall 2005 Institutional Research profile. According to the most recent 2005 profile, CSUN has 42 African-Americans in its full-time faculty, according to the IR profile.

YRO to come into full effect, faculty pay unsure

Daily Sundial Plans for student financial aid for the summer semester under the Year-Round Operations systems were finalized, however, faculty pay was not resolved, said university officials. Summer session tuition and fees will not go up, said Ron Clouse, director of Budget Planning and Management.

CSUN drops 1,780 for not paying fees; up from fall

Daily Sundial The number of students dropped from their classes this semester increased to 1,780 from 1,431 in Fall 2005 after efforts were made by CSUN administrators to increase notification to students of their payment deadlines, said a university official.
