Campus Film Festival to screen winning entries

Judging has come to a close for the Campus Film Fest and the winning entries will be screened on campus tomorrow.

The festival’s finale will take place at Plaza del Sol on Friday, Sept. 26, and students will have the opportunity to see the finest of the five-minute films in categories such as social justice, best drama, best comedy and best picture. There will also be a red carpet gala, music, door prizes and contests.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with games and will continue with the screening of the student films at 7:30 p.m.

The Campus Movie Fest, which claims to be the world’s largest student film festival, arrived in the halls of the Manzanita building on Sept. 16.

Between the 16th and the 22nd, students applied for the festival in the hopes of making a five-minute masterpiece.

The last day for film submission was Sept. 26 and now it is up to the judges to determine which of the films submitted are the pick of the litter.

According to Assistant to the Associate Dean of Mike Curb College of Art, Media and Communication Karen Sabbah, there were more than 40 films submitted to the film festival.

The judging panel consisted of students, faculty and members of CMF. Sabbah also mentioned that the faculty and student judges were restricted only to the Mike Curb College of Arts, Media and Communication due to the fact that this was the first year that the CMF was here on the CSUN campus.
