Chipping away at it

Pacific’s slowly getting back into the game. Two free throws from Casey Neimeyer have cut the CSUN lead to 19-17. They now have a chance to tie or go ahead in the score. And these Spanos Center speakers are deafening. Therin Taylor just made an incredible layup. He was fouled, but couldn’t make the free throw. CSUN up 21-17 with five minutes to play in the half.

Mark Hills threes dropping

There was a time when a Mark Hill 3-pointer was a synonym of miss. Those times are gone. Not to say the point guard has turned into Steve Nash but he’s hitting the long shot more consistently. Tonight he’s 2-of-2. CSUN leads 14-7 with 10 minutes to go in the first half.

Tiger roar

That’s the only thing the Matadors might have gotten startled at: The Spanos Center’s Tiger roar. CSUN’s up 7-0 and the Tigers have missed their first six shots. Bad news for CSUN though: Last game’s leading scorer, Kenny Daniels, has two fouls. And now Pacific scores four quick points. CSUN up 7-4 with 14:20 to go in the first half.

It’s official

Everyone has a numerous band except for CSUN. Yes, I have seen the Northridge band at the Matadome, but not consistently. And when they are there, it’s never more than 10 people playing. CSUN starts with Mark Hill, Rob Haynes, Willie Galick, Kenny Daniels and Tremaine Townsend. Pacific’s starters: Chad Troyer, Michael Kirby, Anthony Brown, Sam Willard and Joe Ford. Game time.

Staff Editorial, Week 8: Future graduates are faced with uncertainty

In a couple months many CSUN graduates will be struggling to survive because of the current state of our economy.’ All across the country people are cutting back on their expenses and spending less on luxury items and leisure activities. Companies are downsizing their work force and individuals who once had stable jobs often find themselves being laid off from careers they had invested their lives in.
