The Art of Movement

Free running is the practice of navigating one’s environment (typically the urban landscape) using jumps, flips and other acrobatic or street stunts. A derivative of parkour, free running is often defined by freedom of movement and is more expressive, whereas parkour is more focused on purpose and fluidity, getting from one point to the next as efficiently as possible.’ Another related emerging movement is tricking, which borrows from martial arts, gymnastics, breakdancing and other sports that free running can be associated with. Is there a general term that includes them all? Not really. But there is one thing all these different practitioners are striving to perfect: movement’mdash;the art of movement.
