India.Arie brings CSUN together at Friday’s concert

For many fans of India Arie, Friday night’s concert did not disappoint. For Ron Robinson, a senior finance major, who attended the concert with some of his friends, the concert was a pleasant surprise. “I decided to come with some of my home girls. You know, because it’s free,” he said. “I can’t say that I’ve really listened to a lot of her music. But [the show] was really nice. I really got into it.” India Arie showed the audience… Read more

CSUN PD Residential Security Workshop – How to make your home a safer place

Kevin McAllister was accidentally left behind when his family took off to Paris for a Christmas family vacation. He was 8 years old, and enjoyed living by himself until two intruders tried to rob his house. He protected his home and himself by learning how to fight the robbers.  He arranged traps throughout the house, left glue and nails on the steps leading to the attic and used an electric fan and feathers to distract the burglars. After cracking the NCAA polls, the Matadors went winless in the Big West Challenge over the weekend

The 24th-ranked Northridge men’s soccer team (5-2-1) came into the Big West Challenge at Cal State Fullerton having won five in a row, good enough for championship trophies at its previous two tournaments. But after its most-recent games Friday and Sunday, it leaves Fullerton a disappointed and frustrated team in danger of being dropped from the top 25. After having their win-streak snapped in a 0-0 double-overtime tie with Denver, the Matadors took it on the chin Sunday against a… Read more

UCLA too strong for the Matadors

The CSUN women’s soccer team (4-6) lost 2-0 Friday to the No. 3-ranked UCLA Bruins at Matador Field. The first shot of the game was a bullet from about 30 yards out that struck the crossbar. Luckily for Northridge, the rebound came out to the Matador defense. But at that… Read more

After sifting through dozens of suggestions and requests comes more tedious work: gaining rights to the productions in question, selecting a dynamic and versatile repertoire, and factoring in the ever-decreasing funding. The theatre department at CSUN receives over 20 play suggestions throughout the year from students and faculty. A play selection committee consisting of students and faculty has the task of not… Read more

Who said life after college is easy?

Ryden Malby (Alexis Bledel) had a plan: study hard, get a college scholarship, avoid the party scene, graduate and get a job at Happerman and Browning. Everything seemed to be going pretty well until she found out that she’d lost the job that she had always dreamed of to her archenemy Jessica Bard (Catherine Reitman). Of course, not getting the job meant not living at a chic apartment in Los Angeles — and moving back home instead. The Malbys are… Read more
