A.S. President’s Report

Hello fellow students, Welcome back to the spring semester and hopefully you have adjusted back into “school mode.” We are in the midst of our annual budget process, and doing our best to consider the needs of every student and organization. This is proving a challenge given that we have substantially less money available, but I promise that we are doing our absolute best. All students are encouraged to attend the President’s Town Hall meetings with University President Dr. Jolene… Read more

Associated Students (A.S.) approved the Student Veteran Organization (SVO) Tuesday along with six other clubs and organizations. “We’ve been trying to start up the organization for two years now, but it’s just come into fruition now,” said Elmer Solis, founder and president of SVO. This Tea Party could get out of hand

There is a relatively new political movement mobilizing in the right wing and I’m apprehensive. The movement, like the Republican platform, protests “excessive government spending and taxation” and has a literal interpretation of the Constitution. They cite three core values they feel should guide public policy: fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government and free markets. I understand fiscal responsibility. The phrases “constitutionally limited government” and “free markets” throw me. The movement kicked off on the heels of what is one of… Read more
