Water conservation top-priority for CSUN

Los Angeles has a growing population but a shrinking water supply. This is where Bill Sullivan, energy manager for physical plant management (PPM) at CSUN comes in. “Water conservation is a more current issue than it used to be because water used to be so cheap,” said Sullivan, who has been with  PPM since 1994. Now that a change is warranted, Sullivan said CSUN receives incentive money for water-saving projects from both the Department of Water and Power (DWP) and… Read more

Groups Projects without the Travel Gripes

When I first started going to CSUN more than two years ago, students had to meet in person at least once to their complete group projects. At the time, I was commuting from, 57 miles, from Lancaster to campus. Fortunately, there are ways around having to meet in person. Students who need to work group projects can do so remotely from their desktops at home or on their laptops at Starbucks. Just use one of these applications: 1. Google Apps:… Read more

CSUN confronts moral dilemma: Practice human rights and human decency

Last week the CSUN community was shocked by the news that an economics professor was running his own website about sex-tourism in Thailand. This week we are discussing the issue and welcome your input. Go to www.dailysundial.com to comment or e-mail your response to opinion@sundial.csun.edu. As a woman, and human being, there are many things economics professor Kenneth Ng has posted which are considerably alarming, but here are a couple which really stood out: “The naysayers will say its creepy… Read more

Excuse me Congress, the timing isn’t right

It was recently announced that the Congress passed a bill that will penalize China by imposing, tariff; taxes on their products. They’re being impulsive. The US is in no position to make such a demand considering the fact our manufacturing base is short-handed. The Chinese government keeps the value of its currency, the Yuan low to boost its export-led economy. That’s why the U.S. has a trade deficit with China, importing more than exporting. Congress fails to understand that China loans us money… Read more
