Associated Students (A.S.) amended the funding request for the Black Student Union (BSU) Tuesday after budget concerns decreased clubs and organization funding last week. Vahan Khodanian, director of finance, addressed the Senate members with his reason to carefully hear the amendment requests from clubs and organization despite budget concerns stemming from the previous week. During the last meeting, Khodanian said clubs and organizations would get more funding closer to the end of the year due to additional funding from student… Read more

A possible policy change announced Tuesday will require students to complete the writing proficiency exam (WPE) no later than the semester they reach 75 units. Dr. Cynthia Rawitch, associate vice president of undergraduate studies, announced the policy change to Associated Students (A.S.) along with three other policy updates that impact CSUN students’ registration, graduation and educational goals. “Too many students get to their senior year and cannot pass the test,” Rawitch said. “We want to help people identify what it… Read more

Slap on wrist not enough for NFL players

Another professional athlete has a run-in with the law. The latest high-profile athlete to get arrested is New York Jets wide receiver Braylon Edwards, who was charged last week for driving while intoxicated. It happens way too often. The arrest has been raising several issues in the sports world, with Edwards getting a next-to-nothing punishment by the Jets or the NFL. UCLA stops talking and finally comes out to play

For the first time in three years, UCLA decided to just be quiet and play football. Throughout the whole Rick Neuheisel era, he has been talking a big game but not really backing it up. This past Saturday, his defense and offense did all the talking. There is a point where boys become men, and it looks like the UCLA Bruins did that last weekend with a victory against the Texas Longhorns, 34-12. The Bruins have been searching for a… Read more

Know your ballot: vote yes on Proposition 26

In order to maintain our ideals without breaking our state, Californians must vote yes on Proposition 26 this November. Proposition 26 will help balance idealism with fiscal responsibility by closing loopholes that allow new taxes disguised as fees to be passed by a simple majority vote. The new measure will require that these fees be approved by the same supermajority vote from the legislature as stated in Proposition 13. The problem is Californians have been notorious suckers for cuddly new… Read more

GWU found that over 60 percent of the U.S. population is overweight or obese and if we continue getting bigger, 50 percent of the population will be obese by 2030. It’s scary to think that if… Read more

Electric car made in the USA?

The Nissan LEAF is the one of the top two electric cars in the United States; however, it isn’t foreign like almost every other car that is well built. Surprised? Same here. This particular car is made right here in the United States of America. It should be a good one.
