Rally To Restore Sanity: Los Angeles

Mark DiNatale

Fans of “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” or “The Colbert Report” might have already heard of the Rally to Restore Sanity, a rally that “invites people to bring their indoor voice and join a national call to reasonableness,” planned to take place Oct. 30 on the National Mall in Washington D.C.

As published on the official Rally To Restore Sanity Facebook page, “Ours is a rally for the people who’ve been too busy to go to rallies, who actually have lives and families and jobs (or are looking for jobs) — not so much the Silent Majority as the Busy Majority.”

But what you might not be aware of are several planned local rallies in support of Stewart and Colbert.

It appears that a dedicated group here in Los Angeles are trying to put together a local rally for those who can’t make it out to Washington D.C. for this historic event.

The event is planned to take place Oct. 30 in Pershing Square, the same day as the Stewart/Colbert rally.

C-Span is planning on airing the D.C. event with a live feed broadcasting in Pershing Square for the L.A. attendees.

Other cities such as Austin, Seattle and Chicago are also hosting similar local rallies.

The team putting this local rally together is completely made up of volunteers, and I encourage all CSUN students and faculty to come out and join us in taking the discourse back from the extremist.

Help get the word out and be part of this exciting event that is certain to “restore sanity,” and give us a good laugh while we do.
