After over two years of construction, the much-publicized Valley Performing Arts Center will celebrate its Grand Opening Gala on Saturday Jan. 29. Additional funding and classes for spring opens up enrollment for transfer students

CSUN has opened enrollment and granted admission to transfer students as a result of additional funding and the opening of new classes. According to the CSUN Institutional Research website, 715 new transfer students will start their first semester at CSUN this spring as of January 13. Los Angeles county tracking homeless population

The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority is conducting a count of all the homeless people in the county this week. An estimated 29,000 people were recorded as homeless in the area, according to a 2009 factsheet provided by LAHSA.  It said the Metropolitan Los Angeles area has the highest density of homeless, with nearly one in 100 people without a home.  Alternatively, the San Fernando/Santa Clarita Valley recorded the lowest number of homeless people in the area. Even with a new defense-first mentality, Cal State Northridge still hasn’t managed to record a road victory. Arizona, Florida and Texas propose to arm college professors

Legislators in Arizona, Florida and Texas are proposing a law that would allow community college and university instructors to arm themselves with concealed weapons. Currently, only Utah allows concealed weapons on college campuses and they are banned in 24 other states, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
