A lack of trust in government and post-traumatic stress ten years after 9/11

DHS replaces color-coded alert system

Department of Homeland Security replaced its iconic color-coded terror alert system on April 27 with a simpler version, according to homeland security officials. Created in 2002 in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Homeland Security Advisory System featured five threat levels, which notified citizens of the probability of a terrorist attack. The Homeland Security Advisory Council criticized the previous system as ineffective, lacking credibility and not clearly defining threat levels criteria. After four attempts, the CSUN women’s soccer team finally captured its first win of the year by scoring a season-high three goals against Princeton on Sunday. A memorial will be completed by the decade anniversary of the terrorist attacks that brought down the World Trade Center, reported the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Associated Student plans to make new matadors feel welcome at this Thursday’s freshman convocation and the unveiling of the new matador statue. “It’s their symbolic journey into becoming a matador,” said university advisor Tom Piernik.
