After giving up 30 runs in their first three games of the season, Cal State Northridge held the No. 18 San Diego Toreros to one run in its 7-1 upset victory at San Diego. Matador pitchers give up 32 runs

The Cal State Northridge baseball team opened up their season scoring 32 runs in three games during the MLB Urban Invitational; unfortunately they gave up 30 runs and came away with a 1-2 record. The Matadors got off to a solid start defeating Bethune-Cookman 18-4 on Friday. With the 2010 season starting this Friday against Bethune-Cookman, from Daytona Beach, Fla., at the MLB Urban Youth Academy in Compton for the MLB Urban Invitational, the Matadors baseball team is hoping that a second straight top-40 recruiting class by head coach Steve Rousey, and the playing experience the young Matador team got last season, will lead to an improvement on last season’s 24-32 record.
