Women’s volleyball extends winning streak

The CSUN women’s volleyball team defeated the Pacific Tigers in three straight sets, 30-25, 30-25, 30-8, giving them their sixth win in a row on Sept. 30 at Pacific. The Matadors increased their overall record to 9-4 and 3-0 in the Big West. The Tigers’ record dropped to 3-11 with the loss, and 1-2 in conference play.

Cross country finishes 9th and 12th

The CSUN women’s cross country team started its season by finishing in ninth-place at the 62nd Annual Aztec Invitational in San Diego on Sept. 16, while the Men’s team finished in 12th place. Julie Hancock was the top Matador finisher on the women’s team by placing 33rd overall in a time of 19:44 in the women’s 5k.

Water Polo ends season losing two matches in tournament

The No. 12-seed Cal State Northridge women’s water polo team wrapped up its season after it lost two matches during the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Tournament at UC Irvine April 27-28 against No.5-seed Hawaii and No.11-seed UCSB. The Matadors wrapped up their season with an overall record of 12-21, while their conference record dropped to 1-13.

Water Polo sinks in last regular season match

The 19th-ranked Cal State Northridge water polo team ended regular season play with a 12-8 loss to the UC Irvine Anteaters in Irvine, April 22. With the loss, the Matadors drop to 12-19 overall, with a 1-11 mark in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play.

Matadors win two during break

The No. 18-ranked Cal State Northridge water polo team won and lost a game in the Beach Tournament, hosted by Long Beach State April 14. The following day the Matadors lost 10-4 to Hawaii in Long Beach. Sophomore 2 meter Allison Brookes scored a total of four goals for the Matadors in their 8-4 loss against No.

CSUN wins all games at home, one in Michigan

Last week, the Cal State Northridge water polo team competed in two tournaments. The Matadors won all of their matches when they hosted a mini-tournament March 15 and won one game at the Wolverine Invitational March 18-19. At the CSUN mini-tournament, freshman driver Jessica Coy led the team with eight goals as CSUN defeated Wagner 13-11 in overtime, Macalester College 18-1, and Cal Lutheran, 12-5.

CSUN wins first conference match of the season

Out of the three games the 18th-ranked Cal State Northridge women’s water polo team played from March 9 to March 12, the Matadors were able to pull out only one victory against Pacific, but lost to No. 9 San Jose State and No. 6 Cal Berkeley. Against the San Jose State Spartans, CSUN’s sophomore 2 meter Christine Cruz, freshman driver Jessica Coy, and sophomore 2 meter Allison Brookes each had two goals for the Matadors as they lost 7-6.

After loss to number one USC, CSUN wins two in a row

After being defeated by No. 1-ranked USC on March 3 at McDonald’s Swim Stadium, the 19th- ranked Cal State Northridge women’s water polo team won both of its matches at the Cal State Bakersfield Invitational March 5. Sophomore 2 meter Christine Cruz posted three goals in the 14-5 loss against USC.

Water Polo ends three-game losing streak with two wins

After losing three straight matches, including the match against ninth-ranked San Diego State at home on Feb. 24, the number 19 Cal State Northridge women’s water polo team won two straight matches at the Redlands Tournament on Feb. 25. In the loss against the Aztecs, senior utility Erica Bonetti scored three goals, while sophomore 2 meter Allison Brookes added two.
