Justice is served as CSUN player, coach’s son, and actor are sentenced

Jeffrey Braswell, Deon Tresvant, and Phannuel Gbewonyo all pleaded no contest last Thursday to burglary and grand theft for a New Year’s Day incident at Best Buy in Porter Ranch. Braswell was immediately sentenced to three years of formal probation and ordered to complete 300 hours of Caltrans service.  San Fernando Superior Court Judge Barbara Scheper reduced the felony convictions to misdemeanors after hearing the no contest plea. USC hired basketball coach

The hopes of CSUN coach Bobby Braswell being hired as the USC head basketball coach ended this weekend, when the Trojans hired Kevin O’Neill. O’Neill’s latest coaching gig came during the 2007-08 season, when he was named as the interm coach at Arizona when Lute Olsen took a leave of absence.  O’Neill was scheduled to be Olson’s eventual replacement whenever the Hall of Fame coach chose to retired.  Well, it looks like that won’t happen as O’Neill gladly accepted the… Read more

Although USC is looking for a basketball coach with pro experience, Braswell is still being considered as a fallback choice according to a June 17 ESPN blog.  It seems unlikely that Braswell will land the high profile coaching position, but the consideration is worth mentioning. Brasswell, Tresvant trial postponed

The June 18 trial date has been postponed for CSUN’s leading basketball scorer Deon Tresvant, basketball coach Bobby Braswell’s son, Jeffrey Braswell, and actor Phannuel Gbewonyo.  June 18 was the scheduled date for the jury trial at the San Fernando Superior Court for felony charges of theft.
