CSUN student reports sexual assault on campus

It was about 11:30, the night of June 24. A CSUN student and her male companion were at an off-campus bar. While there, she was followed into the bathroom and sexually assaulted by her acquaintance. She continued to be followed on her walk home through campus where she was sexually assaulted again and authorities were contacted immediately. Los Angeles Free Market brings free exchange to Northridge

The grand opening of The Los Angeles Free Market, a completely free store, took place yesterday at the Robert M. Wilkinson Multipurpose Senior Citizen Center, less than one mile from CSUN. The Los Angeles Free Market is a community and donation based environmental group ran exclusively by volunteers. Dianne Harrison arrives at CSUN for the first time as president

Correction:  Dianne Harrison was not escorted by Jolene Koester.  She was actually escorted through campus by out-going interim president Harry Hellenbrand who has returned to his position as provost and Cynthia Rawitch, vice provost at CSUN. Senate still on the fence about Stafford loan interest rates

The Senate has postponed making a decision on a July 1 interest rate increase on federal college loans that would affect more than 7 million students. The law threatens to double interest rates on Stafford loans come July, and Republicans and Democrats in the Senate can’t agree on  funding plans to keep interest at the lower rate of 3.4 percent.  The Senate voted on the matter before Memorial Day and the both parties’ plans fell short of the 60 votes… Read more

CSUN real estate professor Donald Bleich dies in his home

CSUN professor of real estate and department chair, Donald Bleich, died May 18 in his Los Angeles home. The cause of death was not available. Bleich completed his Ph.D in real estate at UCLA before joining the CSUN department of finance, real estate, and Insurance in 1985.
