CSUN USU organizes event to make finals less stressful

To help students study and suffer less stress  before final exams, the University Student Union (USU) is hosting Up All Night, which began Sunday and goes through Thursday. CSUN and counseling center provide help for rape victims

California State University, Northridge and Valley Trauma Counseling Center are working together to provide counseling and intervention care for victims of interpersonal and sexual violence. According to the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network (RAINN), somebody is sexually assaulted every two minutes in the United States. That’s about a quarter of a million people each year. CSUN’s Jewish studies program will spend two weeks exploring historic sites

CSUN’s Jewish studies program is organizing a two-week trip this summer to explore the history and culture of Poland. Students will have the opportunity to visit major cities including Warsaw, Lodz, Auschwitz and Krakow from June 26 to July 10. Guided tours and excursions will introduce historic buildings, museums, castles and other sites. The trip will be led by history professor Donal O’Sullivan and two sociology professors, Helen Dosik and Terry Hatkoff. O’Sullivan is no stranger to study trips abroad. … Read more

CSUN students recount cultural exchange with Japan

CSUN’s deaf studies department organized a cultural exchange and community service trip for students to Japan 2011. From Jan. 5 through Jan. 22 deaf studies professor Yoko Kobayashi and four deaf studies students traveled to study the culture and history of the country. The trip was possible with major funding provided by the Freeman Foundation, the Japan Foundation and CSUN. CSUN program brings arts productions to children

Valley Performing Arts Center’s (VPAC) Arts Education program offers students the opportunity to see productions they may not otherwise see, and teachers arts workshops with which they can enhance their classroom instruction. CSUN’s Work Study Program adds participants despite budget cut

Despite a cut to the federal work-study program’s budget, there are more CSUN students in the program this year than there were last year. There are currently 545 students in the work-study program, compared to 510 at the same time last year, said Josefina Carbajal, CSUN Work-Study manager.  But there was a decrease in federal work-study funding by about $200,000.
