Marketing students suggest improvements to center

CSUN’s Family Focus Resource and Empowerment Center took suggestions from marketing majors on how to better manage the program May 16. Professor Deborah Cours, marketing professor, assigned her Marketing 640 class, a graduate class on marketing management, the project of coming up with proposals about improvements the center could make.

CSUN student mourned, accident suspect gives up

A 21-year-old Garden Grove man turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department West Traffic Division at about 3 p.m. March 21 in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed CSUN student Corinne McClane March 18, according to the LAPD. Thomas Om, accompanied by his attorney, turned himself in, and was arrested and booked in connection with felony hit-and-run, said LAPD Officer Sandra Escalante.

New chair fills Zahir’s position

A new chair was appointed to the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department earlier this semester, filling the position left vacant after the death of the former chair, Omar Zahir. Taeboem Oh, professor of Chemistry and Biochemistry, said he is still adjusting to being chair of the department.

University Student Union to offer finance workshops

A Life Skills Institute that focuses on finance, sponsored by the University Student Union, will be offered at CSUN during March, April and May. The concept of the institute was introduced at the CSUN board of directors meeting, Feb. 20. Debra Hammond, USU executive director, said the institute will consist of several free workshops that will make up a financial series.

New CSU student rep. on Board of Trustees

A new California State University student representative was appointed this month by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to sit on the CSU Board of Trustees. Andrew LaFlamme, CSU Stanislaus A.S. external vice president and business management graduate student will act as the non-voting student member on the board for Spring 2006, said Mona Mohammadi, vice chair of external affairs of the California State Student Association.

CSUN students to get night of fun

Daily Sundial The University Student Union will introduce a late-night program Apr. 28 aimed to encourage a nightlife atmosphere at CSUN. Debra Hammond, executive director at the student union, said Matador Night will be from 9 p.m.-2 a.m. The event will include live music and various activities, such as a Crafts Corner.
