CSUN sells its used electronics and recycles obsolete devices

Senior Robert Stokes, 25, computer science major, fixes computers as a side business and said he comes across old computers all the time.  While he uses some of the parts, he throws away the rest. Stokes said  there are places that recycle old electronic products, but he doesn’t always use them. “Sometimes I throw them away… and I feel really guilty for a while,” he said. A.S. allocates money to pay for fundraiser for Japan earthquake victims

Associated Students allocated $1,500 to fund the HOPE for Japan benefit concert in a motion that allowed them to indirectly provide aid to the country which has been devastated by massive earthquakes, tsunamis and seeping nuclear radiation from damaged plants for months. University takes advantage of rebates to install urinals that conserve resources

Waterless urinals across campus are helping CSUN save millions of gallons of water a year. The water savings is approximately 40,000 gallons per year per urinal, said Lynn Wiegers, executive director of the Physical Plant Management (PPM). “This equates to 10,800,000 gallons of water saved annually,” he said. Local rock band to perform at CSUN’s noontime concert

Local rock band Vas Defrans will take the Plaza del Sol stage Thursday to perform at USU’s noontime concert. Lead singer and songwriter Vincent Coleman said Vas Defrans’ sound is aggressive and describes his vocals as similar to Incubus’ vocals. The unsigned quintet has been around for a while. They played at Coachella in 2008. They also have played at Hollywood venues like the Roxy, Whiskey-a-Go-Go and Bardot. They plan to perform seven songs on Thursday. CSUN’s A.S. cuts entertainment budget

Associated Students reduced the budget for the organization in charge of providing students with entertainment, such as concerts, lectures and cultural events free of charge. SPACE, Student Production and Campus Entertainment, had their summer program eliminated for a second year in a row and their ability to sponsor campus events was significantly reduced. CSUN’s night of fashion puts apparel on center stage

The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences will be showcasing student apparel designs for their annual fashion show. “Night of Fashion 2011,” will feature three different student art exhibits throughout the evening.  The show will include cotton-based designs for a more sustainable “green” theme.  Guests will also be able to glimpse student-generated fashion innovations during their “Style Voyage” exhibit.  This event will be held at the Valley Performing Arts Center, April 28, 2011 at 5:00 p.m. The night will begin… Read more
