Tired of watching Beckham ride the bench? Watch Kristine Lilly, 36, play in her record-setting fifth World Cup with the U.S. Women’s National Team instead.

Lilly, who played in the first Women’s World Cup in 1991 and has more caps than any man or woman, is the captain of the U.S. Women’s Team and will start at forward.

The FIFA Women’s World Cup started yesterday and the U.S. will play its first match today against North Korea at Chengdu Sports Center Stadium in Chengdu, China. Although the U.S. is ranked number one by FIFA, the road out of Group B will be a rough one. In addition to the top-ranked U.S., Group B also contains third-ranked Sweden and fifth-ranked North Korea.

Germany, ranked second and the defending champion, opened World Cup action with a 11-0 beating of Argentina in Shanghai yesterday. Both teams are part of Group A, along with England and Japan.

Group C consists of Ghana, Norway, Canada and Australia. Group D rounds out the competition with New Zealand, China, Denmark and Brazil.

All of the games will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN2, with the U.S. vs. North Korea game broadcast before you read this, at 2 a.m. on ESPN2. The U.S. will play again on Friday against Sweden. That game will be televised on ESPN at 2 a.m.
