While 16 wildfires consume southern California and only three of those fires are contained, three major fires continue to burn in the Santa Clarita and Castaic area to the north of CSUN. Helicopters could be seen going back and forth from the Ranch Fire in Castaic and refilling their water tanks in Castaic Lake.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the Ranch Fire burned 55,000 acres and was 10 percent contained. The Buckweed Fire was listed at 27 percent containment and burned 38,000 acres. The Magic Fire in Stevenson Ranch burned 1,500 acres and was listed at 40 percent containment.
