Here’s a quote from CSUN Athletics Director Rick Mazzuto, aka Head Coach Bobby Braswell’s boss. If you’re a “Free Deon Tresvant” supporter, it’s likely this isn’t going to cheer you up.
Said Mazzuto: “Deon’s status with the basketball team hasn’t changed. He remains a student in good standing with the university, but we will continue to withhold him from competition until his court case is resolved. We had hoped the situation would have been resolved today, but it didn’t.”
Tresvant, who pleaded not guilty for alleged theft and will appear again in court for a preliminary hearing on March 16, will miss Saturday’s home game vs. Long Beach State and likely the rest of the season.
He’s still expected to be honored on Saturday as part of Senior Day along with Tremaine Townsend, Rodrigue Mels, Rob Haynes and Josh Jenkins.
