The Matadors hosted Bethesda University during their 2025-2026 season opener, resulting in a record-breaking 103-13 victory on Tuesday night.
According to CSUN Athletics, the 90-point margin was the largest in team history, surpassing a 67-point victory margin set against UC Irvine in 1977.
CSUN controlled all aspects of the game through all four quarters, not giving Bethesda any breathing room.
The Matadors outscored Bethesda 22-0 in the first quarter and 30-0 in the second. Bethesda would not get any points on the board until late in the third quarter, only mustering three points to CSUN’s 26.
In the fourth, Bethesda found slight rhythm and managed to score 10 points, but the Matadors’ dominant offense proved too much to handle for Bethesda.
Five players reached double digits in points, with guard Laini Dahlin leading all players with 19 points. Forward Maya Contreras recorded the team’s first double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
CSUN’s next game will be against San Diego on Saturday, Nov. 8, with tip-off at 2 p.m. in the Premier America Credit Union Arena. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
