General Manager David Crandall reported Tuesday the upcoming changes between Associated Students (A.S.) and University Student Union (USU) partnership effective fall 2012.
Currently, A.S. manages the Fitness Center while USU provides the facility and equipment support.
In addition, A.S. operates the Open Gym program and Intramurals on campus.
However, by 2012, the USU will take responsibility for the Fitness Center, Open Gym and Intramurals saving A.S. money.
“Right now we pay for those programs,” Crandall said. “Once they take it over, we don’t have to pay anymore.”
Crandall said some things will remain the same.
He added A.S. is still responsible for outdoor education programming: camping, hiking, low and high ropes etc.
A.S. is still responsible for advising sports clubs.
With a unanimous vote on Tuesday, A.S. approved senate and committee appointments for five CSUN students.
Rachelle Bowen and Aaron Sladek will serve on the Environmental Affairs Committee.
Daniel Monteleone will serve as Social and Behavioral Sciences Senator II.
Amanda Flavin will serve as Business and Economics I.
Ashley Berry will serve as SPACE, Director of Films.
