Chick Corea and Gary Burton are performing on Oct. 6 at the Valley Performing Arts Center at 8 p.m. as their Hot House Tour with the Harlem String Quartet continues.
Armando Anthony “Chick” Corea is an American jazz pianist, keyboardist, and composer. As mentioned on his website, Corea is a 20-time Grammy winner with a total of 51 nominees. He is known for his twist on electric jazz, becoming a renowned name in both American and Latino culture.
According to his biography, Gary Burton is an American jazz vibraphonist who began teaching himself how to play a vibraphone at the age of six. Burton has been recognized for his musical talent through his 42 years in the industry, winning six Grammy Awards out of 15 nominations.
Enjoy the jazz duo as they perform material from their new album, Hot House, alongside the Harlem String Quartet, who has been recognized by the Cincinnati Enquirer for “bringing a new attitude to classical music.” Corea and Burton will fill the night with covers from famous composers, including Kurt Weill and Antonio as well as artists like Paul McCartney and John Lennon.
Ticket prices range from $20 to $80 dollars starting with balcony seats on the lower end and orchestra seating on the higher. The performance will be held in the Great Hall. Parking will be available for patrons in the G3 parking structure.
