While you were purchasing your bikinis for the summer, fashion designers already had their plans for fall. The fall styles are already in stores for the picking. There are a few basic essentials that can be paired with the items already in your abundant closet.
What’s in style? Skinny is in! Skinny pants and jeans that is. The skinny jeans are straight legged and hug your legs down to the ankles and the pockets are bigger than normal-sized pockets. The good thing about these skinny jeans is that you don’t have to be skinny to wear them.
Want to know where to buy them? Just about everywhere! If you want to splurge, Seven for all Mankind jeans have a dark blue pair, with zippers on the inside at the ankle, for $265. If Diesel is your favorite brand, they sell the skinny jeans for $190. However, if your financial aid money is running low, Armani Exchange sells them for $98 and the DKNY jeans brand through Macy’s has them for $59. Express sells them for $59.50 and they have several colors.
Now that you have your skinny jeans, you need equally stylish shoes to match. I have one word for you: flats! Flats are great for walking around campus or the mall and they look good, too.
The colors and styles to buy: black leather, metallic gold, brown leather and textured leopard print are the ones designers are currently advertising. One popular style is the peep-toe flat, which means you have to keep up with your pedicures as your toes will be peeking through. Some flats have a low heel if you’re looking for some height. Flats with bows near the tip and those with polka dots are very popular this fall.
Nine West sells them starting at $48 for simple black and they have some for $75 if you want a dressier gold flat. Payless Shoesource has some cute flats for $14 if you’re on a budget. Looking for more designer style? Designer Shoe Warehouse near the Northridge Fashion Mall has tons of flats starting at $26. The Isaac Mizrahi brand through Target sells a round toe leopard flat with a brown suede bow on it for $29.99. Looking to splurge, Coach through Macy’s has a round-toe ballet flat with the logo along the side in brown and black for $128.
The flats also look great with leggings, long or cropped. Black, gold, white, and gray leggings are back! The 1980s style is everywhere this fall. The leggings are being shown under mini skirts and with long shirts or sweatshirts. The leggings will keep your legs warm through the fall and winter. You can find them to your ankle, knee or above the knee if you want to show off your legs.
Mini skirts are a must this fall as well. Many of the stores are selling mini skirts connected to leggings to make it easier. Forever 21 has the mini-skirts starting at $19.80 for the red and black plaid and leggings for $6.80 in various colors. H’M sells leggings for $9.90. Bebe sells leggings for $29 but the general price range for them at other stores is from $7 to $21.
Flats look great with leggings, but so do wedges. The peep-toe wedges are very popular for fall. These wedges are so popular that they are sold out at many stores. The upper sole is made out of suede or leather. The hot colors are brown, black and leopard print. Payless Shoesource sells them for $22.50 and Baker’s sells the suede peep-toe wedges for $49.50.
Peep-toe platforms that are sling-backs or closed around the heel look great with the leggings and mini-skirts as well. Jessica Simpson brand through Macy’s and Baker’s sells them from $58 up to $79 depending on if you want patent leather, leather or suede.
Once the weather cools down a little, slouchy leather or suede boots are great for keeping your feet warm. The slouchy boots have a wrinkled look on the tall part of the boot and the leather is usually very soft. DSW sells them for $58, but Payless Shoesource offers them for $26.50. Old Navy has slouchy flat boots for $39.50 and they come in dark brown, brown and camel.
Cropped pants or Bermudas are a must-have this fall and they look great paired with the wedges, platforms and flat shoes. There are two styles of cropped pants that you need to buy. Gap sells corduroy cargo-style crop pants with tons of pockets which stop right at the knee for $48. Guess sells a black pin-stripe cropped pant for $64 and Forever 21 has basic black for $26.50.
Graphic tees and rock ‘n’ roll t-shirts used to be more for guys but designers are showing them for girls this fall. Express has them starting at $24.50 up to $34.50. Vintage tees can be found at Target for $11. Guess also sells graphic tees for $44.
Striped or polka dot tees can give you a more punk rock look with your mini skirts, leggings and skinny jeans. Forever 21 sells various styles of the striped and polka dot tees in a variety of colors for at $14.80 to $19.80.
Now you know where to find the fall styles no matter what budget you’re on you can still have the same fall fashion and look great.
