The Aquila Theatre to perform at Plaza Del Sol

The Aquila Theatre’s production of “Cyrano de Bergerac” will grace the stage of the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall on Saturday, March 16 at 8 p.m.

The Aquila Theatre is performing “Cyrano” as part of their national tour. The company was founded in London in 1991 and has been based in New York City since 1999.

The story tells the tragic tale of a nobleman who is a gifted poet with an exceptionally large nose in Paris in 1840.

Cyrano falls in love with his beautiful cousin Roxane, however due to his nose, he is self-conscious and can’t bring himself to tell her how he feels.

With the help of a handsome, but less articulate nobleman, named Christian, Cyrano attempts to woo Roxane.

She falls in love with Cyrano’s words and writings while Christian reaps the rewards. Like “Romeo and Juliet,” this is a tragic love story for the ages.

Written in 1897 by Edmond Rostand, “Cyrano” has been adapted and updated since its debut.

Cyrano has been portrayed on the big screen by the likes of Gerard Depardieu and Steve Martin in the 1987 comedy version.

Tickets for the production are $35 and $40.
