Tony Kushner’s adaptation of Pierre Corneille’s L’Illusion Comique opens tomorrow in Nordhoff Hall’s Little Theatre.
The Illusion tells a story of love, loss and magic. Pridamant, an older man, has just become aware of his own mortality and desperately wants to reconcile the mistakes of his youth before his time on earth is through.
Kushner, author of ‘Angels in America’, takes a slightly different direction with ‘The Illusion’ than Corneille’s original play. There is a stronger emphasis on love and a darker portrayal of Pridamants sorrow than in the original; which allows ‘The Illusion’ to stand on its own.
‘The Illusion’ and all it’s mysteries will open on Friday, Feb. 27 at 8 p.m. Student tickets are $8 and are available through the box office (818) 677-2488.
