Associated Students (A.S.) President Christopher Woolett discussed the new CSUN mobile application on Monday, Aug. 26 during the first A.S. meeting of the semester.

“Our mobile app is the only one from the 23 school systems that can add and drop classes,” Woolett said.

The CSUN mobile app also provides students with access to moodle, a map of the campus, and student/faculty contact information. It can be downloaded via both the Apple iTunes Store and Google Play Store.

A.S. discussed the start of another resource called MyCSUNsoftware. This program will give students free access to select software such as Microsoft Office and Windows Upgrade.

This year, CSUN has welcomed the largest freshmen class in history. A.S. University Advisor Thomas Piernik is optimistic about the large number of new freshmen and said that A.S. has provided a great freshmen orientation experience  and made freshmen feel welcome at CSUN.

Seven hundred freshmen attended this year’s orientation.

It is important for students to know that new classes are being offered this year to accommodate the high demand, according to Piernik.

“A full slate of classes are there for the taking,” Piernik said.

More than 400 housing units have been added to CSUN student housing to accommodate the new students, according to Piernik.

A.S. welcomed three new senators onto their government today. Sebastian Taborda is the new upper division senator, and Josselyn Partida and Heidi Vacaflor are the new lower division senators.

A.S. announced that Afrojack, a dutch music producer and well-known DJ, will be performing at Big Show this semester. The show will be Saturday Oct. 5 at the Oviatt Lawn. The tickets are on sale now for $10, but the price will go up Sept. 21.

On Wednesday the 28th CSUN will have its President’s Picnic on the Bayramian Hall lawn. The first is from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the second is from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
