Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and it is time to start planning in order to avoid the last minute rush for a reservation. So to help with that, here is a short list of options ranging from cozy café’s, to romantic Italian restaurants by candle light to keep in mind for date night.
Compañía De Café:
110 N. Maclay Ave., San Fernando, CA 91340
This café mixes both American and Mexican culture in their decor, and in their drinks and pastries. Some of their drinks include horchatta latte, abuelita mocha and mocha diablo, which is a mix of chocolate and dried chiles. They serve the usual cookies and cupcake pastries while adding more unique to café foods like empanadas, and a cake that has a hint of tequila.
Price Range: $2-$10
Crave Café:
14504 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA 91403
Open 24 hours, this spot is perfect for a late night Valentine’s Day dessert or early morning breakfast. This urban café’s menu, hoisted on brick walls, contains paninis, pancakes, waffles and much more. They not only serve just crepes but they serve Nutella crepes.
Price Range: $2-$14
Diddy Riese :
926 Broxton Ave., Westwood, CA 90024
Located near UCLA, this dessert place is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Their cookies are made from scratch, and are delicious when paired with their ice cream for a fun ice cream sandwich or sundae. With the choice to pair any two cookies with one of their flavors of ice cream for only $1.75, it will keep your significant other happy while keeping your wallet happy. Just to let you know though, they only take cash, so make sure to head to the bank before getting turned away for paying with card.
Price Range: .35 cents-$8
il Tramezzino:
18636 Ventura Blvd., Tarzana, CA 91356
Have a “Lady and the Tramp” moment at this small, romantic Italian restaurant.
The Italian food here both sounds appealing and looks appealing. Along with the traditional spaghetti with marinara sauce you usually see at Italian restaurants, they also serve mushroom ravioli, gnocchi (potato pasta) and an array of classic Italian desserts.
I recommend the patio seating, if weather permits, with candle light to make the date that much more romantic.
Price Range: $4-$17
Lazy Dog Restaurant and Bar:
The Oaks Mall 172 W. Hillcrest Dr., Thousand Oaks
Conveniently located next to a movie theater, this subtly canine-themed restaurant is a casual date option if you both can’t decide what type of food to eat. They have Thai noodles, chicken Parmesan, burgers and specialty drinks served in mason jars. One plus to this place is that if you are new to the restaurant you might just get free garlic flatbread to start you off.
