CSUN re-evaluates public safety after Virginia Tech shootings

CSUN's Campus Safety Department has been reviewing its emergency procedure in the wake of last week's Virginia Tech shooting. The campus is waiting to revise their emergency plans since the tragedy at VPI. Glavin said that revising will be done after the independent panel releases its report by the several law enforcement experts appointed by Virginia Governor Tom Kaine to evaluate whether school officials reacted appropriately to the murder spree.

Monday morning, the worst campus shooting in the history of the United States occurred at Virginia Polytechnic Institute in Blacksburg, Va., leaving 33 people dead, including the gunman, and 29 wounded. At about 7:15 a.m., 23-year-old Cho Seung-Hui, a native of South Korea, walked into the West Ambler Johnston dormitory and shot two students.

Los Angeles Councilman Greig Smith unknown by some CSUN students

Voters cast their ballots on Tuesday for eight Los Angeles city council seats. Incumbent Greig Smith, who serves District 12, ran unopposed in the election. Political science professors attribute his unchallenged seat to a couple factors.
