On the bright side, things can only get better for the Matadors. After a dismal 2007-08 season, Northridge looks to move forward into the 2008-09 campaign, which opens up Friday far away from home.

It's time to close another chapter. Four Cal State Northridge seniors were honored on Senior Day, Sunday, before the Matador's season finale against the Cal State Fullerton Titans.

With playoff hopes minutes away from disappearing, the Lady Matadors took the pitch on the final day of the regular season with aspirations of advancing to postseason play.

In their first exhibition contest of the 2008-09 season, the Cal State Northridge Matadors women's basketball team fell 81-72 to Love and Basketball Saturday afternoon at the Matadome.

The Matadors return home for a pair of games to finish off their 2008 regular season. Today they host UC Riverside while Sunday they wrap up the season as they welcome Cal State Fullerton. Despite a winless last weekend, Northridge is still in good position to reach the Big West Conference playoffs.

After an impressive 2-0 homestand, the Matadors hit the road one last time for a pair of Big West Conference games. Tonight they head to Irvine to take on the Anteaters. Then, they visit Long Beach Sunday to battle with the conference-leading 49ers.

Matador freshman Nancy Avesyan was named the Big West Conference Co-Player of the Week Monday after scoring game-winning goals in both of Northridge's wins this past weekend. She is the first Matador to win the honor since the 2005 season.
