Zombie Come Alive

Gloria Galvan spends a lot of her time dead - or at least pretending to be. A third-year theatre major, three of her roles this semester have been deceased characters, two of which were zombies. As a murder victim in CSUN's Threepenny Opera, Galvan was rolled onto the stage with other victims set to the tune of "Mac the Knife.

Hookah: popular but dangerous habit

As hookah smoking becomes a bigger trend among college students, many are unaware of its harmful effects on health. "Regardless of how you smoke tobacco, whether it is through a cigarette, cigar, or a hookah pipe, the effects are the same (because) tobacco is tobacco," said Jesus Leon, a LVN at Northridge Medical Center Hospital stationed in the Cancer Center.

Race relations brought top forefront with Richards incident

The latest hot topic surrounding race relations in America involves comedian Michael Richards and the racial statements he directed to two black men in the audience at the Laugh Factory during a stand up performance. On Sunday, Nov. 19, while he was performing a stand up routine, two black men heckled Richards during his performance and Richards retaliated by directing racial slurs toward them, which included repeated use of the N-word.

There is something about Disney that puts a smile on people's faces. Disney has captured the hearts of many people of all ages and races, male and female, mainly because of its entertaining movies and extravagant theme parks and resorts. It is safe to assume that volleyball has been the sport of choice for Harmony Burdine for a very long time. Her parents, Pam and Paul Burdine, coach at the high school level and run a club, which she was a part of, and her two sisters, Bonnee and Keao Burdine, have played at the collegiate level.

Students looking to save money on textbooks are getting back to basics and going to the library. It is not a guaranteed plan, but trying to find costly books in the library is definitely worth a shot. That is the thought that occurred to Wyatt Jones, a journalism major who works at the circulation desk in the Oviatt Library.
